

He was born in 1929, in Buffalo, New York – the son of the late George and Ella Burr. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at Hunter Air Field in Savannah he met and married the love of his life, the former Shirley Tilton, celebrating 53 years together.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
George retired as an electrician and has been a member of IBEW Local 508 for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years and was a long time member of the Young at Heart (over 50’s) group at church. He was a Veteran of the Korean War.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, baseball and college football. He also cherished the antics of his four-legged kids - his cats: Tigger, Mouse, Tom and Little Bit.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley, his parents, and his stepmother, Clara Burr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children, son, Keith Burr (Susan) daughter, Carole Burr, grandchildren, Jennifer Maggioni of Savannah and Drew Burr (Anna) of Marietta, Ga., sister-in-law Marie Black, nephew Russell Jarrell (Sandra) of Savannah, Jean Connor (Jack) of Birmingham, Al. and cousins Fred Angerbauer (Doris) of Goppingen, Germany and Helga Hilber (Herbert) of Pforzheim, Germany.

Funeral Service: 12:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
