

George L. Richter, III, 61, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, George L. Richter, Jr. George was born in St. Petersburg, FL and lived most of his life here in Savannah. He was a 1972 graduate of Windsor Forest High School. George loved and devoted his life to his family and sports. Full of energy and life, he never missed any opportunities to enjoy and share his time with his wife and children. He was a dedicated husband, father, son, and son in law. George grew up in the Windsor Forest Baptist Church. George will be greatly remembered for his love and dedication to coaching the young ladies of the Purple Dragons, Herricanes (2002 state champs), and young gentlemen of the Bulldogs, as well as his parental involvement in the CGSA Bandits soccer team and Warrior Baseball team. He also helped developed the first baseball team at Oglethorpe Charter School. George wasn't just a coach, but a great motivator and second father figure to many of his beloved young players. George will be greatly missed by these players and their family members. George will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy Kynerd Richter; a son, Ryan L. Richter; a daughter and son in law, Tori and Kurtis Bronston; his mother, Ruth Richter, a sister Janice Exley, (Ben); several nieces and nephews.
