
Jack Curtis Ricks, died peacefully at his Tybee Island home on June 7, 2011. He was born July 17, 1929 in Tallahassee, Fl. He graduated from Savannah High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He attended the University of Florida and graduated from Auburn University. He worked for IBM and Civil Service as a computer analyst, retiring at Ft. Stewart in 1987. He was a pioneer to the computer industry and wrote numerous programs still used by the government today, including military training programs.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maudine Ricks; one brother, Robert Ricks and sister, Hazel Moeller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorena and Sam Ricks and his sister, Cornelia McHale. A man who dearly loved his family of three children, Michael Ricks, Debbie (Lloyd) Bradley, and Kimberly Wells and three step-children, Rufus (Shirley) Ellis, Sue (Larry) Bristow, Janice (Gordy) Fogle, 14 grand-children and 16 great-children.
Services to celebrate the life of this honorable man will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert Baker Chapel on Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga. Visitation at 12:30, with service beginning at 1:30 pm and burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA. 31404.
