

Savannah. Robert Edwin Williams died July 1, 2013 on his 81st birthday following an 18 month battle with cancer. According to Bob’s wishes his body has been donated to the Medical College of Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Skidaway Island Baptist Church, 2 Westridge Road. Following the service there will be a reception in the church social hall during which Bob’s friends and family can celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Savannah or Skidaway Island Baptist Church. Mr. Williams was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 1, 1932 to Dr. Robert W. Williams and Elsie M. Brooks Williams who predeceased him. He graduated from high school in Atlanta, attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Emby Riddle Aeronautical University. He retired from Delta Airlines after 20 years and was currently co-owner of Realty Executives Coastal Empire. Until his illness prevented it, Mr. Williams volunteered as a member of the Chatham County Citizens Review Board and the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team. He was a charter member of Skidaway Island Baptist Church where he sang bass in the choir. He was also a member of the Savannah Board of Realtors, the Georgia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 33 years, Frances Hill Williams and his daughter, Susan Helmuth , son, Craig Williams (Leisha) and son, Chris Williams. He is also survived by his step-children, Michael E. Walton, Savannah; Susan Spencer (Dean), Gulf Breeze, Fla; Elizabeth Larson (Lance), Savannah; 10 grand-children and 1 great-grandchild and a brother-in-law, Ralph Allen Hill, Maysville, Ga.
