

Samuel Alger Jessup, 91, of Savannah, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at Hospice Savannah, Inc., surrounded by his loving family.He was born in Wisner, Louisiana, and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ruth Hill Jessup. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the US Army – Air Corps, in the Pacific. He was both a Master Electrician, and Maintenance Foreman for the General Service Administration.He was raised at the Bethesda Home for Boys where he was over the Dairy, and was active in the 4 H Club. He was Past Master of Clinton Lodge # 54, F. & A.M’s, and a member of Solomon’s Lodge # 1, F. & A.M’s. A member of the Scottish Rite Consistory – Valley of Savannah, and Past Patron of Savannah Chapter # 52, OES, and a member of the Order of the Amaranths.He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Lynette Jessup Wright (Roger) of Savannah, Ga; and 2 granddaughters, Maria Teresa Askea (Jacob) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Kathy Lynn Gitlin of Savannah, Ga, and 5 great grandchildren.Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel. OES Services: 7 p.m. Thursday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, conducted by Savannah Chapter # 52, OES. Masonic Services: 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, conducted by both Clinton Lodge # 54, and Solomon’s Lodge # 1, F. & A.M’s.Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Friday, in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Donald C. Combs, officiating.
