In loving memory of Alexander Hislop Blaikie, 82 years old, who passed away peacefully after a well-fought battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, March 30, 2023, with his daughter Tammie by his side. He leaves behind sister-in-law Claudette, cousins Wayne and Lorraine, nieces Kathy, Monique (Steve), Debbie, great-niece Lauren, nephews Mark (Victoria), Michael and close friend Millie Flynn (Bob deceased). Scotty—as he was known to his friends and in-laws—was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and came to Canada in 1962. He worked at Ford Canada in Oakville for 45 years, and proudly drove their vehicles, getting a new one every 4 years. He was happiest cruising the Caribbean with his wife Blanche (deceased 2016), drinking Caesars or rum and Pepsis, making new friends at dinner while eating multiple chocolate desserts, and shopping for jewellery in St. Thomas. He made quite an impression while decked out in his gold chains, bracelets, and rings. Scotty was also a true sports fanatic, often watching/listening to 3 hockey, baseball or football games at the same time (two TVs and a transistor radio). The night he died, Tammie was able to tell him that his beloved New York Yankees had won their season opener that very evening. A true Scotsman, Scotty also loved a round of golf. Scotty was well-loved by his Scottish and Slovak clans, and he kept them entertained with his sense of humour, giant appetite, and very cool sense of style—he had his own tuxedo. While we mourn his death, we rejoice knowing he is sitting by a pool with a rum and Pepsi, surrounded by Blanche, Bette/Jack, Peggy/Nick, Charlie/Guy, Alec/Wilma, John/Emilia, Milan, Ann/Ray, as well as his pups Prince, Nikita, Blue and Bosco.
