Maria (Mary) Retz passed away at the Birchmount Hospital on the morning of Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the age of 92. Mary was predeceased by her husband Rolf Retz. Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Barbara and Monica, son John of Toronto; granddaughter, Danielle of Whitby Ontario.
Mary was born in Yugoslavia on January 9, 1930. She came to Canada by boat on the Neptunia of the Greek Line, arriving in Quebec on May 3, 1954 and travelled on to Toronto where her sister resided.
Mary enjoyed meeting new people, talking with them, making them smile and of course giving the her world famous “HUGS”. She was a devoted parishioner of the Warden Full Gospel Assembly and received great comfort from this relationship.
A Visitation for Maria will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E, Scarborough, ON M1R 2Y8. A Chapel Service will occur Monday, July 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E, Scarborough, ON M1R 2Y8. Private interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Warden Full Gospel Church, Shepherd Village and Alzheimer's Society of Toronto Society would be appreciated by the family.
