We lost touch and have only learned about Martin's passing now. We are greatly saddened. Martin lived across the street from us in East York. After we moved into what was our first home, Martin made us feel immediately welcome. A good chunk of time passed before we learned about our shared passion for motor racing and car models (and football). I still have the photo Martin emailed me of his model car display after moving out of East York. Martin was always warm, open, and generous. If we ever had a problem, we knew we could turn to him for help or advice. I will always cherish our dash-across-the-busy-street impromptu chats at the end of a work day. And I will always remember the care and effort that was taken to bundle together a Halloween treats-package for our son.

I just read this today. I went to Neil McNeil with Martin . I remember him starting the model airplane club  and I played in school band with him . Rest in peace my friend  god bless john madden.

Martin was one of the first people I got to know at BMO’s AML Team. We became good friends and kept in touch after he retired. Martin always went out of his way to support me in my new role. He was a gentleman and was entirely devoted to his family. 

I’ll miss his sense of humour and also his insight. He was a true person. RIP Martin…

Condolences to Marilyn and family. I was lucky to work with Martin for almost 10 years at BMO and then continue our friendship for the past 4+ years since our retirements. Martin was a man of many interests and many areas of expertise. After imparting his AML wisdom on us during the day, he would then challenge our friend Sheri and myself to rock 'n' roll trivia after work, and usually won. In retirement, along with our friend Bill, we had near daily email exchanges about all topics under the sun. Martin was particularly animated when the discussion turned to his love of soccer, foreign cars, and the Beatles. He loved to needle Bill and I about the Maple Leafs and he always accurately predicted their early demise. Martin also loved to talk about his kids and grandchildren of whom he was so proud. My email inbox looks empty now without daily missives from Martin. He is missed.
