Melanie was born and raised in Toronto's suburb of Scarborough where she made friends where ever she went. She was always a very friendly person whose maternal instincts drove her to be super protective of her brothers. Melanie always meant well but often her protective instincts got her brother Sean into trouble. Melanie was also a huge help with her younger brother Michael who has Cerebal Palsy and became his favourite person in the world. She could always talk him into behaving when Mom and Dad couldn't. She was like a second mother to her brothers and sometimes spoiled them.
Melanie always loved nature, animals and helping others. When Melanie could walk, she used to love going to a nearby neighbour's house that had a large guard dog tied up at the door. The first time she saw that dog, she pulled her mom to go to see the dog. Melanie and that dog developed an instant bond. The neighbour came running out of the house in fear that the dog would hurt Melanie, but was shocked to see them in a bonding moment. When her mom finally got her away, the dog cried and Melanie was trying to go back to her new friend. After that, every time Melanie went by, she had to go visit her canine friend.
She loved to go to Grandma and Grandpa's hobby farm to help with the animals and the garden. It was hard work, but she loved it. She would spend long periods of time there during the summer helping out in whatever she could.
At a young age she volunteered in grocery shopping for the elderly. She joined the Girl Guides and won many badges for her sash. While she worked for a company that had employees who didn't speak English, she decided to take a course in teaching and acquired a certificate to teach English in order to teach people at work. She joined St. John Ambulance where she made many friends, learned many skills including, first aid, Cpr, and participated in many events and competitions. Later on, she worked with a young man with special needs. Her involvement as a volunteer was a strong influence in her interest in the medical field. She worked in an xray clinic, trained in a doctor's office and became an essential member of her doctor's staff.
Melanie loved dolphins, whenever she could, she would buy anything dolphin She also loved games, first it was board and card games, then it was video games and progressed to computer games. It didn't matter what games she played, she was always very good at them. The first computer game she played a lot was Diablo but, gradually got bored with it until the expansions came out. She also played World of Warcraft. Her next favourite game was Final Fantasy XI, where she played with family members. She learned the game very quickly and helped her mom, dad and youngest brother. She made many friends in that game but, the most important friend (Justin) became her husband several years later. They seemed to have a special chemistry between them from the beginning and were pretty much inseparable. Justin used to also play with Melanie's family members some of which tested his patience. After, came Final Fantasy XIV, which was the last game she played.
Melanie went a few times to the United States to spend some time with Justin where they finally got married on Feb. 10 2015. She sponsored Justin to move to Canada where they both had better opportunities . They were finally reunited after a long process and lived happily until the day Melanie passed away.
