Annette was born in Scarsdale and graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1943. She attended Lasell College in Massachusetts, where she studied music and voice and graduated in 1945. After college she returned to New York and commuted into Manhattan where she worked for Electrolux at 5th Ave at 42nd Street. During these postwar years her family joined Coveleigh Beach Club in Rye where she met her husband of 48 years, Roswell Cherry. Ross and Annette spent many happy years raising their three children in Eastchester, attending the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Scarsdale and enjoying summers in Rye. In later years, Annette worked as a branch manager for Scarsdale National Bank in Eastchester. After the passing of Ross in 1999 she enjoyed the love and companionship of Charlie O’Connor—a second Coveleigh romance. They enjoyed travel, bridge, and the company of friends and family.
Annette will be remembered for her wonderful positive disposition, her quick wit, sense of humor, and her kindness towards others. She enjoyed nothing more than the company of others. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Guy Cherry (Cassia) and Philip Cherry (Judy); daughter Gail Cherry; five grandchildren Adam Cherry (Erin), Allison Cherry, Marin Magrino Cherry (Thomas), William Cherry and Steven Cherry; and, very recently, a first great grandchild, Thea Anne Magrino.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, October 22 from 4PM to 7PM.
A memorial service will follow on Saturday morning at 11AM. Both events will be at the Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annette’s honor can be made to “Save the Sound” at their website www.savethesound.org.
