Carol was born on June 22, 1935 in the Bronx, NY to Alfred Nicholas Muratore and Ethel (Clark) Muratore. She attended St. Pius high school. Carol worked as a legal secretary at Cravath, Swaine and Moore for over 20 years. After retiring in 1998, she spent her remaining years surrounded by friends and family. She was particularly devoted to her grandchildren and never missed a school ceremony, athletic event or dance recital.
Carol was eternally young at heart. Well into her eighties, you could find her zipping around town in her car or visiting dear friends in Woodlawn. When she wasn’t out on the town, she loved nothing more than to settle in with her iPad and keep up with friends on social media. Nothing made her happier than receiving pictures and videos from loved ones she couldn’t see in person. She loved her family fiercely and was a tireless support — she instinctively knew when you needed a hug, a wise word or a good joke and she was the first one to provide it.
She had a unique ability to make friends wherever she went — whether it was waiting in line at the grocery store or getting a parking ticket — she always walked away with a good story and a new friend. Her laugh was contagious and her smile lit up a room.
Carol was a life-long learner and her wide ranging interests included historical documentaries, Broadway shows, opera, the food network, tennis, ballet, and all kinds of animals. Most of all, Carol was interested in seeing other people smile. Her greatest joy in life came from knowing her family was happy.
Carol is survived by her three daughters, Theresa McGlynn, Christine O’Connor and Patricia Hooker, son-in-laws William McGlynn and Timothy Hooker, her brother Thomas Muratore, sisters-in-law Julie Muratore and Frances Muratore, her nieces and nephews, Richard Muratore, Michael Muratore, Chiara Muratore and Alexandra Muratore, her grandchildren Lauren McGlynn and husband Justin LaPoint, Christine Chillo and husband Michael Chillo, Caroline McGlynn, Ellie Hooker and Natalie Hooker, and her great-grandson, Luke Michael Chillo.
She was predeceased by her husband Michael O’Connor and her brother Alfred Muratore.
