

Charles was married to Regina Martucci on May 24, 1970, and they were happily married for 49 years.
Charles is survived by his son, Jason Martucci, and his wife, Marilena; his grandsons, Matthew, Joseph, and Andrew Martucci, of Walpole, MA; and his sister, Lee Ezell, of La Crosse, VA. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Regina, his father, Charles Angelo Martucci, and his mother, Helen Salerno Martucci.
Charles was born in the Bronx, NY, on February 27th, 1940. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Columbia University and dedicated his life and over 45-year career to scientific research and teaching. In the first half of Charles’s career, his passion was cancer and epilepsy research at Rockefeller University. Charles transitioned into teaching as a chemistry professor and chemical safety director at New York University for the second half of his career. He was able to pass on his love of learning to a great many NYU students. He continued to work well into his senior years and retired at 79. He loved walking over the Brooklyn Bridge to work most days, even up to his retirement.
Charles enjoyed spending time on his beloved Nantucket, where he and Regina made over 50 years of happy memories. He loved sharing his knowledge of the island and visiting the Whaling Museum and the Maria Mitchell Observatory with his family on a clear summer night. Charles also enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, and spending time with his grandsons.
The visitation hour will be Saturday, March 2nd, from 10:00am-11:00 am, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Both will be at the Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home: 824 Scarsdale Ave. Scarsdale, NY. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
