Ms. Hart was my third grade teacher at PS 109 in the Bronx 1971-72. She was also the first teacher to really make an influence upon me and recommended skipping me ahead a grade which I am still very grateful for. Kind, intelligent, and a person you can't help but really look up to. I was sad to discover the news while search the internet on her but am grateful she had such loving people around her.

 The last time I saw Deirdre was at her home in Scarsdale about 12 years ago where Art joined us in the kitchen for a hot dog dinner because I was too late getting to her house because I got lost. I stayed over night and had an opportunity to talk to Art in the garage the next day while we both did our smoking, he was very concerned about what would happen to Deirdre when he passed away.  Well Deirdre went on to take good care of her father as she did her mother. She loved them dearly and is now with them in heaven.It was pretty shocking to hear of her death because she had just called me on Memorial Day but I missed her call cause I was working. She was always praying for me and my daughter.I will miss her prayers. I will miss my friend.

Deirdre must be so happy being with Uncle Art and Aunt Pauline! I don't think a better daughter could have been found. My mother was the glue that held the family together, so since her passing we haven't spend much time with Deirdre,  only an occasional card or call which wasn't enough. Mom and I went to visit Uncle Art before he passed and spent a couple of days with Deirdre. I remember sitting on her bed going through all the albums of her family memories. She was such a loving and caring daughter and she is finally reunited with the ones she loved so much. My parents and son are also up there with her enjoying each other and the peace and love we can only imagine.

We only got together a few times during our lives, but we had a bond the last time I saw her at the family reunion at my sister Beth's when my father's Memorial Service was held there.  We kept in touch by phone & through cards & notes. She will be with her Mom & Dad who she missed so much.  She was a very caring person, &Loved the Lord. RIP Deirdre.

I am sorry to hear of Deirdre's passing. I worked with her for many years and we always looked forward to celebrating St.Patrick's Day together. I know she is in a better place now and she and her family will be in my prayers.

Driedre was my cousin but I really only met her once when she came to the family reunion at our house with her brother and his wife.. We had such a good time and commented on how we kind of looked like each other.. Judy and me and her.. I wish I had known her better .. she will be missed by many

I'm sorry to hear she has passed from this life. The video and the music were very touching and sweet. I wish I had known her better. I see my Dad in her Dads pictures and I appreciate her care for him through the rough years. She showed her loving giving self by her life. God be with those who are greiving her loss.

Deirdre was for me a special person whom I was privileged to have known.  I will miss her.  She always reminded me to tell my family how much I love them every time I see them.  I would nod my head and say of course.  "No, even though they know, it's important to tell them, people need to hear that", she would say to me.   Seems like a little thing but her passing reminds me again just how important this small act can be.  In this way she left an indelible mark in my life.  She will always be remembered for her kind words and her caring heart.  Tonight I will be sure to tell my family that I love them.  Rest in peace Deirdre.

Ray's entry said it all for me too.  When Mom was in hospice, preparing to meet the Lord, Deirdre made the long trip to Rochester to see her before she passed and returned for the funeral.  Now Mom and Deirdre can hang around with Art and Paulene at the foot of the heavenly throne.

Deirdre was indeed a kind and generous person. She cared deeply for the infirm which was especially evident in her care of her father during his long convalescence.  Distance separated her from many of her cousins including the three Defendorf cousins, but our brief and infrequent visits to Scarsdale demonstrated her hospitality and love of family. The distance that separated us in the past may also prevent us from being at the calling hours and especially regrettable the Funeral Mass on Thursday. (Still trying to figure out a way). But regardless we will be present in spirit and will celebrate a Mass in Corning in her memory. Bill and Karyn, you also are in our thoughts and prayers during these difficult days.
