Caro zio ed anche tu non ci sei più lasciandomi un vuoto dentro impossibile da colmare sei stato un uomo per me molto importante un esempio un confidente come è raro trovarne ho tanti ricordi con te tutti i bei Natali passati da te a Roma fino ad arrivare all'ultimo a casa mia quando ci riunimmo tutti quanti insieme cerano ancora i miei genitori e la tua amata sorella e tu ti vestissi da Babbo Natale sempre il solito burlone
Avrei voluto abbracciarti ancora una volta e dirti quanto ti voglio bene ma non sarà più possibile purtroppo 
mi consola il fatto che ora sei lassù insieme a tutte le persone che amavi portagli un abbraccio da parte mia ti do l'ultimo saluto tuo Nipote Paolo insieme a Flori

È incredibilmente faticoso e commovente per me parlare dello zio Gino in questo doloroso momento….in questi giorni mi sono passati davanti agli occhi mille ricordi:  i giorni passati a New York dove, insieme alla zia Sandra, si è sempre preso cura di me come fossi una figlia, e le volte che tornava nella sua amatissima Viterbo: ci raccontavamo le nostre vite e ridevamo tanto. Adorava passeggiare insieme in centro e prendere l’aperitivo da Schenardi, cenare in taverna con la grande famiglia pianoscaranese e giocare a carte con i suoi cugini. 
Mi piace pensare caro zio che tu ora sia in cielo a giocare a briscola e a scopone con tutti loro e sono sicura che vi divertirete tanto e ci guarderete da lassù con tenerezza. 
Lo zio Gino era una persona davvero speciale, colto e gentile, attento e sempre disponibile, generoso ed affettuoso, sorridente ed ironico, innamorato della vita e del mondo che guardava sempre con occhi curiosi. 
Grazie zio carissimo per essere stato così presente nella mia vita, per avermi voluto così bene, non potrò mai dimenticarti, resterai per sempre in un angolo speciale del mio cuore. Ti voglio bene.

Here we are sharing a laugh, as we always did, at Gino's retirement party. 

What an exceptional man in so many ways. He has given so much to so many people and created so many happy memories for all those who met him.

I feel so privileged to have had such a friend and will miss him terribly.

Gino was a true gentleman and a very kind, perceptive,  and caring  person.  We have been fortunate to enjoy his friendship and company  for many years and on many occasions.  He loved people and was always ready to celebrate, as shown in the photo below.   He treasured his family, and always spoke fondly of his wife, Sandra, his son and daughter-in-law,  Robert and Jackie,  and his grandchildren, Alessandro and Sofia.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

My partner Julie, my son R.T. and I very much enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with the Mecarini family on a long summer trip to Italy several years ago.  Gino was in fine form, punctuating every moment of our activities together with his kindness, his curiosity, his good humor and his overall delight in life.  I will never forget how he genially talked his way, and ours, past a bureaucratic snafu in Rome’s airport.  As the father of one of my closest friends, Gino has always made me and mine feel welcome - whenever we were in his company.  To his wife, his son, his daughter-and-law, his grandchildren and all others deeply missing him, we convey our deepest sympathies.

ti ho conosciuto negli anni 2005-2006 , in Florida ad una conferenza sul Coastal Protections  , ma e' come ti avessi conosciuto da tutta una vita !! Il nostro amore per il mare , l'approccio umano nel lavoro , la grande gioia di vivere , ci hanno messo subito in sintonia.  Riposa tranquillo , caro Gino , perché' tutto quello che hai costruito attorno a te , porta ancora i segni indelebili della tua personalità', della tua costanza nel lavoro  e dell'amore per la vita che si sprigionava da tutti i tuoi pori . Riposa in pace , mio caro amico . Vivrai sempre nei miei  ricordi.

Gino was truly a gifted man who was most generous in the sharing of his gifts as well as his love for people and life. We feel blessed to have been able to meet him and to share some great times together.  I have a vivid memory of Gino showing us his Christmas window display at his home.  His love for life and it seemed for love itself was so evident at that particular moment.  Gino's giving spirit  and welcoming heart was a gift immeasurable to  all.  

Sandra, Rob, Jackie, Alessandro and Sofia - our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. May you take comfort in one another and in all of the wonderful times you were able to share together.  Gino's deep love for his family was surely evident.

Per me è la mia famiglia lo Zio Gino è stato sempre uno Zio speciale. Ogni volta che veniva in Italia era sempre una festa ,passava  a farci un saluto e naturalmente era l’occasione per stare a cena tutti insieme in taverna, quella taverna dove ci ritrovavamo tutta la nostra meravigliosa e grande famiglia . Aveva sempre una parola per tutti. Ogni volta che mi vedeva mi chiedeva sempre come andava il lavoro, i negozi e la mia passione per la montagna e lo snowboard.  Ricorderò sempre quando nel 2011 siamo andati a NY io Federica e Filippo, se non fosse stato per lo Zio Gino sarebbe stato un problema raggiungere l’hotel dall’aeroporto.  Nella tristezza della perdita c’è la consapevolezza che si troverà in cielo i suoi amati cugini Di Viterbo , mio padre Oliviero , lo Zio Giovannino e la Zia Pina…. Sai che risate con loro.. Ciao Zio.

Costudisco gelosamente il ricordo del nostro incontro dal porto Lallo a magnare tutti noi insieme , riposa in pace caro Zio Gino 

Un uomo meraviglioso, un grande lavoratore , padre, marito e nonno. 
Nella sua vita ha saputo conciliare il lavoro che amava tanto e la famiglia che adorava. 
Oltre ad uno zio è stato per il nipote Andrea un secondo padre ed un esempio.

Gino always loved to party and have a good time. We spent many New Year's Eves with Gino and Sandra. We remember once celebrating in Cafe Mezzo, a low key restaurant , until Gino started a Congo line dancing around the tables. He managed to get everyone to join in.
He had a contagious vitality that always made his friends want  to be around him.
