Peacefully on saturday September 10th, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, James A. Dell’Orto passed away. He was born on June 10th 1936 in Manhattan. James graduated from Manhattan College and opened the restaurant, Manganaro's Heroboy, where he originated the 6-foot hero in 1956. He successfully ran this business for 50 years. He met and married his wife of 61 years, Biruta, in 1961. They have six children, Anthony, Elizabeth, Bridget, Benedict, Catherine, and James Jr. In 1966, James’ wife and children relocated from 9th ave. to Scarsdale, NY where he resided for 56 years. James Dellorto was a devout Roman Catholic who attended mass daily. His faith was an inspiration to his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Any opportunity that he could spend with his family, whether on vacation or out to dinner, he was at his happiest. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
