

Philomena Labriola, 94, of Scarsdale, NY died peacefully April 22, 2015 in Woodstock, VT in the company of her four children. The daughter of Luigi G. (Louis) DiRubba and Marietta (Mary) Criscione, she was predeceased by her parents, her brother Anthony DiRubba, an infant sister Maria, and her husband, Carmine Labriola.
She grew up in Eastchester, NY, where she graduated from high school in 1939. After attending business school, she was employed by Union Carbide until her marriage on October 12, 1947 to Carmine Generoso Raphael Labriola. They made their home is Scarsdale, NY until his death in 2000. Philomena moved to Vermont in 2007.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Ann Marie Labriola (Bruce Coolidge) of Bethesda MD, Lawrence Labriola of Purchase NY, Linda Jean Labriola (F. X. Flinn) of Quechee VT, and Michael H. Labriola of Portland ME, and two beloved grandchildren, Hannah Elisabeth Coolidge and Samuel Reid Coolidge.
Philomena’s first priority was always the comfort and care of those around her. She was a kind and generous person with a beautiful smile. She touched the hearts of many people and she will be sorely missed. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Merten’s House for the wonderful care she received during the last years of her life in Vermont.
There will be a viewing at Bennett’s Funeral Home Tuesday April 28th from 5pm to 8pm, followed by a funeral service at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale at 11am on Wednesday April 29th.
