
Our beloved Carlton Hazen Perry, born September 9, 1936, in Scranton, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in Lebanon. He joins his wife of 54 years, Monica Alma Perry (nee Murphy), in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carlton Wesley Perry and Mary Perry, as well as by his brothers, Wesley and Donald. He is survived by two brothers, George and Robert, and their wives and children, as well as by his children, John, Joseph, Adam, Audrey and Benedict, their spouses, and 11 grandchildren.
Carlton graduated from Hawley High in 1956 and served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He joined the Post Office in East Stroudsburg around 1963 and started a family in Stroud Township, Monroe County with Monica in 1967.
Around 1977, he became the postmaster of Canadensis, PA, where he remained until he retired in 1995. Following his retirement, he worked for Verizon in Wilmington, DE until he fully retired around 2003.
Carlton and Monica built a home full of love and wonder, in which their children grew and thrived. Carlton modeled the value of hard work and education by teaching his kids how to care for one another and others.
A devoted husband and father, Carlton modeled success for his children by graduating with a BA and MA from East Stroudsburg University and pursuing a Ph. D. in history at Lehigh University in the 1990’s.
In his last 20 years, Carlton embraced and enjoyed his role as grandfather, sharing his wisdom and expertise with the next generation. He reveled in his role as grandpa and loved visiting with his family.
Carlton Hazen Perry brought a lot of life and joy to many lives during his 84 years. He was loved by all and will be missed by many.
