Dawn D. Keener

Dawn D. Keener, 89 of Schaefferstown, passed away on Monday February 12, 2024 in the United Zion Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late James Keener, Jr. Dawn was born in Schaefferstown on July 16, 1934 a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Price Miller. She had been employed over 40 years with Met-Ed. She was a life member of St. Paul’s UCC in Schaefferstown and was treasurer for the Schaefferstown Fire Company ladies auxiliary for many years. She was also active with Historic Schaefferstown where she and her husband James planted and maintained the heirloom garden for over 10 years. She is survived by a sister: Dona L. wife of Dale A. Nye; nephews: Randy Nye and wife Mari Beth; Kerry Nye and wife Bonnie; John D. Miller III; John Spannuth and wife Suzie; Ronald Miller and wife Cindi; nieces: Cindy wife of Brad Alm; Virginia wife of Steve Fitzgerald as well as several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: Kenyon Miller, John D. Miller, Jr. and sisters: Dorla Krall and Deanne Haller. Funeral Services will be Tuesday 11:00am in the Clauser Funeral Home 116 N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown, PA 17088 with a viewing from 10:00am until the time of service. Interment will be in Schaefferstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Paul’s UCC 1304 Heidelberg Ave., Schaefferstown, PA 17088.
