Grace Verna Schaeffer

Grace V. Schaeffer, 72, of Newmanstown, died Friday, December 4, 2015 in the Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was born in Schaefferstown on February 17, 1943, a daughter of the late George and Margaret Ruth Horst. She was employed for over 20 years as Food Service Director for the Lebanon School District and prior to that, she worked for 12 years at Cedar Haven in the food service department. Grace was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Schaefferstown and she enjoyed reading and gardening. Grace was a 1961 graduate of ELCO High School and she graduated with a food service degree from HACC. She is survived by a son, Michael D. Schaeffer and wife Karen of Lititz; sister, Lorraine Krall and husband Kenneth of Schaefferstown; brothers, James Horst and wife Sharon of Schaefferstown; Thomas Horst of South Lebanon; companion, Dennis R. Schaeffer with whom she resided; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Carol Hitz and Margaret Kurchak; brother, George Horst. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1432 Heidelberg Ave., Schaefferstown, PA. Interment in the Schaefferstown Cemetery.
