John J Hurst

John J. Hurst, 87, of Womelsdorf, PA, went home to be with his Lord on June 18th, 2015. He was the husband of Alma K. (Horst) Hurst who passed away October 5th, 2011. He was born in Elverson, PA, on November 15th, 1927, a son of the late Daniel M. and Hettie Ann Weaver Hurst. Mr. Hurst owned Hurst General Supply in Danville, PA. and later in life he collected and sold farm toys. He was a member of Schaefferstown Mennonite Church. Surviving are his children, Harold Hurst of Danville, PA; Ruth, wife of Moses Yoder, Jr. of LaMonte, MO; Daniel, husband of Mary Jane (Nolt) Hurst, Myerstown; Alma, wife of the late Barry Burkholder, Womelsdorf; Lois Owen of Turbotville; Esther, wife of James Lapp, Lewisburg; John, husband of Bonita ( Stauffer) Hurst, Richland; Paul, husband of Gloria ( Stauffer) Hurst, Myerstown; Orpha, wife of Ken Zimmerman, Lebanon; Nelson, husband of Cindy (Martin) Hurst, Pelham, GA; 47 grandchildren; 103 great grandchildren; brother: Louis, husband of the late Miriam (Gingrich) Hurst, Ephrata; sisters: Ruth, wife of Irvin Weaver, Denver and Mary Jane, wife of Leon Stauffer, Terre Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Miriam Hurst; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter; brothers: Weaver, Earl, Clarence, James, Paul and Edwin Hurst; sister: Betty Newswanger. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22nd, 2015 at 10:00AM in the Schafferstown Mennonite Church, 625 N. Market St., Myerstown, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.
