John R Schaeffer

John R. Schaeffer, 75, Myerstown, passed away on Saturday July 6, 2024 in his residence. He was the husband of Deborah A. Witmer Schaeffer. John was born on October 1, 1948 a son of the late Avon Schaeffer and Elizabeth Shafranski. He was the owner of the Heydt Shell Station in Myerstown and had worked at Forino Construction in Sinking Spring as a fleet supervisor. W. Nelson Heydt and Claire were known as Mom and Dad. John was a member of Tulpehocken Trinity Church in Richland. He was a life member of the Myerstown VFW Post 6076 and the Richland American Legion Post 880. He loved working on cars. In addition to his wife he is survived by children: Angela Heisey and husband Brian, Kristin Kushmanick; step-children: Shawn Sweigart and wife Yvonne, Tara Sweigart; 5 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters: Doris Matthew and Barb wife of James Thomas. Graveside memorial services with full military honors will be Monday July 15, 2024 at 10:00 am in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A procession will form at the Rohland Funeral Home 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon beginning at 9:00am to proceed to the cemetery for the services.
