Ruth A Gorey

Ruth A. Gorey, 84, of Bethel, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. She was the wife of Ronald F. Gorey with whom she was married to for 37 years. She was born in Manheim on April 6, 1932, a daughter of the late Robert and Elsie Sheaffer. Ruth was a member of the Schubert Mennonite Church, Bethel. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping, traveling, cooking, baking, going to yard sales and spending time with her family. Surviving in addition to her husband are children, William Sheaffer of Newmanstown; Gloria Sheaffer of Lebanon; Charles “Dude” Sheaffer and wife Debra of Lebanon; step children, Ronald R. Gorey and wife Ann of Bethel; Irvin Gorey and wife Sharon of Schuylkill Haven; Evelyn Good and husband Eugene, Newmanstown; Sherri Yermalovich and husband Joseph, Jr. of Pine Grove; Kim Koch and husband Donald of Womelsdorf; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Sue Simpson; brothers, Kenneth Sheaffer, Dale Sheaffer, Jim Sheaffer and Bob Willard. She was preceded in death by children, Wilma “Tuss” Sheaffer, Cynthia Sheaffer; sister, Betty Jane Ramos and brother, Bob Sheaffer. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 10 am in Schubert Mennonite Church, 21 Kline Road, Bethel, PA with a viewing beginning on Saturday at 9 am. Interment will be made in the Millcreek Memorial Cemetery, Newmanstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ronald Gorey, 9151 Lancaster Ave., Bethel, PA 19507.
