Ann Hayes

Ann Kelly Hayes passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 8, 2011. She was 88 years old. She grew up in Dorchester and was a Saint Gregory’s graduate and a graduate of Boston College. She was an elementary school teacher for 25 years at the Charles H. Taylor School in Mattapan.

After retiring from teaching, she became a sales associate at Filene’s in Braintree where she received numerous rewards for outstanding sales performance.

She raised her family in Scituate, a town she loved for its beautiful scenery, woods, beaches, and ponds.

Ann was an avid swimmer, and walker, and would swim faithfully at N. Scituate Beach during the summer. Well in to her 80’s she would do water aerobics at Webb’s Pro Fitness, Norwell.

She enjoyed travelling with Elder Hostel throughout the US, and travelled to Alaska, Hawaii, the Bahamas, as well as Japan, England, Ireland, Spain, Africa and Mexico.

Ann was dearly loved by her family. She leaves her daughter Marie Hayes and her husband Duncan Postma, and their three children. She also leaves her children John, Ann, Elizabeth, and the late Martin Hayes.

Ann was a faithful supporter of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church, Scituate.
