Carole Ann (Stebbins) Meskil, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Warren Ashton Stebbins and Mary (Foley) Stebbins. She is survived by her sister, Virginia (Stebbins) Seward, and preceded in death by her brother Warren Ashton Stebbins II. Loving wife of the late Alan Meskil. Beloved mother of Kara Lee Meskil and Alan Todd Meskil. Cherished grandmother of Christina (husband Tommy), Jackson, and Thomas, and great-grandmother of Judah, Hazel, Phoebe, and Deacon. Born in Boston, raised in Milton and Scituate, she graduated from Emmanuel College and pursued a fulfilling career in teaching. Her life was devoted to being a wife and mother, and to sharing the love of God with the world. Carole had a passion for worldwide travel and adventures, which confirmed her faith in God’s universal love. She could find beauty and great joy in the simplest of things and daily experiences that most overlook.
She touched the lives of all she met throughout her life and would always share a devotional prayer she had written: “I humbly submit to your sovereign dominion, Lord. I trust and depend on You to work everything out in my life today according to Your most perfect plan. I only want to be what You will, do what You will, and will what You will”.
She will be dearly missed but always remembered and adored by all of us who had the great fortune to know and love her.
A visitation will take place on December 5, 2025, from 3-7 pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A Funeral Mass will be held on December 6, 2025, at 11 am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North and South Rivers Watershed Association.
