Carolyn S. McLean

Born on December 29, 1944, Carolyn was the second of three children of the late Chester Sunnerberg and Eileen Edmonds Sunnerberg. A lifelong resident of Scituate, Carolyn graduated from Scituate High School, before beginning her career in hair design. After dedicating herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother, Carolyn went on to build a fulfilling career that included roles at the South Shore Music Circus, the Deputy Collector’s office, Harvard University and most recently Team 3A Estate Sales.

Carolyn’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her friendships, loved working estate sales, tending to her garden and caring for her beloved cat Tessie. Despite her recent health challenges, Carolyn continued to lead a meaningful life characterized by resilience, kindness, and thoughtful guidance that influenced those around her.

Carolyn is survived by her children: Jenna Gavin and her husband David of Plymouth, and Travis McLean and his wife Bonnie of Marshfield. Carolyn was a proud and loving grandmother to Daniel McCarthy, his fiancée Kaleigh Manning, grandchildren Cameron McLean and Will McLean, and a delighted great grandmother to Grace and Jack McCarthy.

She was a loving sister to Chester Bruce Sunnerberg and his wife Alice of Plympton, and Stephen Sunnerberg and his wife Patricia of Scituate. Carolyn will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, our dear cousins from across the pond, and her community of cherished friends and confidants who have been so generous to her over the years.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, at the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate, MA 02066.

Interment immediately following at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview Ave, Scituate, MA 02066.
