

Charles J. Budd Jr, of Scituate, passed away at home peacefully on December 7, 2014, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Charlie grew up in Roxbury and was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Fay) Budd, and brother of George, late of Norfolk, Ma. He attended Commerce High School in Boston where he played football, and co-captained the Track team. Charlie graduated in 1945. He served his country overseas in both WW II and Korea, as a Sergeant and combat MP in the US ARMY, and worked for the US Postal Service at the Postal Annex in South Boston for 30 years, and also for the Town of Braintree for ten more years.
Charlie was an accomplished distance runner as a freshman at Boston University. He finished 15th in the 1950 Boston Marathon as a member of the B.A.A. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances (Bulman) Budd, of Scituate, three children, Timothy and wife Teresa of Pembroke, MA, Phyllis Cochran, and husband Kevin of Plymouth, MA, Elizabeth Rhinehart, and husband Gary of Ocala, FL. Charlie also leaves behind his nine grandchildren, Annalise, Charlie, Teresa and Shane Budd, Sean and Sydney Cochran, Edward and Shannon Twist, Cody Rhinehart, and one great grandson, Caden Twist. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 12th at 9 AM in the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Visitation Thursday 6-8 PM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
