

Lesher, Charles Richard (Dick), Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy (Retired) of Scituate, MA crossed the bar on November 11, 2011 at the age 82.
He is survived by his loving wife Dot (Doris Bayer) Lesher; son James Michael Lesher (wife Stacey, children Andrew and Anya); daughters Jean Medley (husband J.R., sons Joshua Peterson (Maria) and Byron Peterson) of Gig Harbor, Washington; Joyce Hogan (husband Tim and son Liam) of Edmonds, Washington; brother Commander John Q. Lesher, Chaplain, USN, Retired, (Mary Jane) of Green Valley, Arizona and great granddaughter McKenna Peterson of Washington. He also leaves his stepsons: Kevin Brown of Scituate, Scott Brown and Gary Brown of Florida. His sister Jane Mulvey predeceased him.
Dick was a graduate of Cohasset High School, class of 1948. After high school he joined the Navy and was a career veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served on nine ships and two shore stations. Almost his entire career was served on ships of the U.S. Pacific Fleet in the Far East. Two of which were non-rotating flag ships of the Commander U.S. Seventh Fleet; home ported in Yokosuka, Japan. Shore stations were Headquarters Support Activities, Yokosuka Naval Base, Yokosuka Japan and Naval Torpedo Station, Keyport, Washington. He was a postal clerk at the Scituate Post Office for 15 years.
Dick was a member of the American Legion Post 118, Cohasset, MA and VFW post 3169 Scituate, MA. Dick enjoyed gardening as well as riding his motorcycle with his buddies. He enjoyed traveling and seeing new places and experimenting with the local cuisine. Another fulfillment in his life was becoming a Master Mason and serving 2 terms as Master of Satuit Lodge AF & AM.
Visiting hours will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Friday Nov. 18th from 4-8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by the Officers and members of the Satuit Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M.
Funeral Service will be held in the Christ Lutheran Church, 460 Chief Justice Cushing Highway (Rt 3A), Scituate on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Scituate Veterans Cemetery Cudworth Road.
