Dennis Patrick Cooke Sr.

Dennis Patrick Cooke, age 84 of Bedford, MA (formerly of Hingham and Norwell), beloved husband of the late Mary Josephine (McLaughlin) Cooke, entered peaceful rest on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Home in Bedford, MA.

Born on May 26, 1936 in Boston, he was one of 9 children to the late John and Alice (Kardas) Cooke. He grew up in Brighton, MA and joined the US Marines Corps at the age of 17 and became a Korean War veteran. He was an avid Boston sports fan and spent his youth as a bat boy for the Boston Braves baseball team and later played semi-pro football for the Brighton Knights Club team.

Dennis’ life revolved around his family and loving wife of 40 years. He will be missed dearly by his many friends and family.

Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis & Frances Cooke of Lexington, MA, Brian & Lucinda Cooke of Greenwich, CT and Deborah & Steve Shurdut of Scituate, MA and 5 grandchildren Kayla, Justin & Ryan Cooke and Patrick and Bridget Shurdut, and many loving relatives.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 9:00-11:00am at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. Please note due to COVID there’s a limit of 25 people at any given time. A private service and burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate following visiting hours.
