

He was the husband of Claire M. Burke. Devoted and proud father of Caroline M. Burke, Jacqueline M. Burke, Natalie M. Burke, Karen M. Burke, John P. Burke, Brendan A. Burke, Edwin F. Burke, Jr. and Joseph J. Burke, all of Scituate. Cherished “Papa” of Luke K. Johnson.
Loving brother of Patrick J. Burke of Scituate, Deirdre A. Woolley and her husband Douglas of Norwood and Ellen M. Anderson and her husband Michael of Scituate. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and Luke’s father Kristofor Johnson.
Son of the late John P. and Carol A. Burke.
Before all else, Ed was a father and was dedicated to his family. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Since age 17, Ed was in the paint business, first working for Raymond’s in Scituate and later Factory Paint in Plymouth, where he currently was still employed as store manager for the last 13 years. For years, he was an assistant coach for the Scituate Little League and he looked at the players as if they were his own children. He was a strong paternal influence to his children’s friends, teammates and classmates.
Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Thursday Aug. 6th at 9 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours will take place Wednesday Aug. 5th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
A trust fund dedicated to his children is being established in his memory and information will be made available on the funeral home website once it is completed.
