Floyd L. Robbins, age 73, of Scituate, passed away on December 25, 2015. Survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Barbara L. Robbins. Loving father of Benjamin Robbins and his wife Elizabeth of Quincy, and Rebecca Bizzozero and her husband, Scott of Duxbury. Devoted grandfather of Christopher, Nicholas, and Mia. Brother of Henry C. Robbins and his wife, Cathy of Weaverville, North Carolina and sister, Martha Robbins of Virginia. Floyd, born in Newton to the late Floyd Sr. and Elizabeth V. (Young) Robbins, lived in Waban for 4 years before becoming a longtime resident of Scituate. Growing up in a town so connected to the ocean, he developed a lifelong love for, and relationship with the sea. He discovered a passion for all that the sea had to offer him such as fishing, lobstering, and clamming. Scituate's shoreline even united him with his lifelong partner and wife, Barbara. Together, in North Scituate, they lovingly raised and adopted two children, Benjamin (Benji) and Rebecca (Becki). Besides being defined by the ocean, Floyd was a successful man of all trades, beginning as a a worker on a farm owned by Eldon Meyers in Scituate, and as a Butcher at Roxie's in Quincy and Rizzottos in North Scituate. Once married, he became an entrepreneur, by starting his own local disposal waste business, called F&B Robbins. During that time, he also became an independent Machinist working for Scituate Concrete Pipe and others. While building his business and raising a family, his love for the sea evolved as he began harpooning Bluefin Tuna on his vessel, "The Cod Father" moored in Cohasset Harbor. Fittingly, he decided to sell his business, and begin his life as a commercial lobsterman beginning on "The Cod Father" and ending on the "Barbara Elizabeth" . He lovingly, willingly, and selflessly gave all of his life roles as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, friend, business owner, lobsterman, captain, fisherman, and grandfather with all that he had. He will be throughly missed by his friends and family!!
