James L Horan

James L. “Jim” Horan, Jr. - 83, of Scituate, passed away peacefully after an illness on the morning of January 18, 2018. He was the devoted husband of 60 years to the late Arlene R. (Marion) Horan. Beloved father of Michael J. and his wife Courtney of Marshfield, James L. “Larry” and his wife Cherie of Tulsa, OK, Christopher J. and his wife Jacqueline of Mansfield, TX, and Timothy J. and his wife Colleen of Scituate. Adored grandfather of Michael, Ross, Andrew, Travis, Isabella, Kevin, Alexandra, Jake, Gillian, Caroline and Kelly.

Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late James L. and Ruth (Kohl) Horan. He was a graduate of St. Paul High School in Scranton and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Scranton. He was a veteran of the US Army. Jim worked for most of his life in sales, becoming Vice President of Sales at Merriman and subsequently earning the title of President of Quamco, Inc.

Arlene and Jim belonged to Hatherly Country Club in Scituate for many years and spent winters for more than 20 years at their home at the Oaks Club in Osprey, FL where Jim served a term as Club President. He was most passionate about his family and created many fond memories golfing with his sons and grandchildren at Hatherly Country Club.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jim’s life on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Pat Roche Hospice Home, c/o Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061 in appreciation of the care they gave Jim in his last days.
