Mary Jane Curtis

Mary Jane (Grogan) Curtis – 90, of Hingham, formerly of Scituate, passed away on May 16, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald T. Curtis, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, before his passing in 2015.

Born in Archbald, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Burke) Grogan. Mary Jane attended St. Patrick’s High School, continued her studies at Misericordia University, earned her master’s degree from Bridgewater State, and devoted 40 years to teaching.

Mother of Gerald Curtis and his wife Darlene, the late Mary Colette Sullivan and her husband Jon, Patrick Curtis and Olga Curtis. Grandmother of Meghan Curtis, Thomas Sullivan and Emily Curtis. Sister of Charlie Grogan and Millie Grogan. Mary Jane is also survived by her goddaughter and niece Katie Noldy, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts 02066. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor, Massachusetts 02066, followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
