Mary Anne (Faherty) Dalton- 87, of Scituate, formerly of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family who she adored. She was the beloved wife of John William Dalton Jr with whom she shared 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2018.
Born and raised in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anne (King) Faherty. Loving mother of Susan M. Cassidy, her husband Jim of South Weymouth, the late Deborah A. Donovan, and the late John W. Dalton III. Cherished grandmother of Meaghan Kelly, her husband Tom of Norton, James Cassidy, his wife Nicole of Hingham, and Colleen Reilley, her husband Zack of Abington. Great grandmother of Thomas, Mary, Richard and Claire Kelly, Nora, Isla, and Clara Cassidy. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her siblings Joseph (Dottie) Flaherty, Michael (Pat) Faherty, Robert (Catherine) Flaherty, Richard Faherty and Margaret Faherty.
Mary was a proud graduate of the class of 1955 of Archbishop Williams High School where she made many fond memories and lifelong friends. Mary went on to graduate from the Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing and dedicated many years of her life to caring for others. She retired from nursing as the Head Nurse of Weymouth Public schools where she served as the high school nurse. Mary was a woman of strong faith and that was reflected in her dedication to her family. Mary was known for her Sunday family dinners and homemade sweets. She often spent her time taking leisurely drives, enjoying the view of the ocean from her home in Scituate and, as of late, cherishing her role as a great grandmother. To Mary, spending quality time with family was everything and they were blessed to have her. Mary will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
