

Paul R. Kearney, Jr. - of Hanover passed away peacefully Friday, October 24th after a brief illness. Paul was survived by his wife of 17 years, Leanne Ward Kearney & was the beloved father of Ronan Patrick Kearney. Born on May 8, 1966, he grew up in Roslindale & graduated Jamaica Plain High School in 1984. He was the son of Paul R. Kearney, Sr. & Marguerite (Leonard) Kearney of Roslindale. Also survived by his sister Maureen Kearney of Roslindale, a niece Meghan Kearney, his in laws; Judy Ward & the late Stephen L. Ward of Cohasset, sister in law Lisa Ward Ryan & her husband John & their children, Madeline, Parker & Nicholas Ryan. Paul had a passion for cooking at an early age & began working in restaurants as a teenager, continuing to The Country Club of Brookline for almost a decade & then spent the following decade as a chef for Barrets of Boston Harbor, The Abington Ale House & The Charlie Horse. After Ronan was born, Paul gave up his professional cooking career to spend more time with Leanne & Ronan and started as a salesman for T.F. Kinnealey & Co., Inc. Paul loved the beach, boating and fishing, skiing and traveling. He & Leanne enjoyed many memorable trips to Spain, Alaska, Mexico, Florida, and Arizona with friends & trips to Colorado, Martha’s Vineyard & Cape Cod with family. Paul loved to cook for everyone in his own kitchen or in any kitchen he was near. He loved to try new restaurants & hear live music. He & Leanne went for many years to Jazzfest in Saratoga, NY & Paul was also an avid follower of the Grateful Dead. Paul was a true fan of sports; he enjoyed watching & attending games. As Ronan got older, Paul enjoyed coaching & watching him play a variety of Hanover youth sports. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8pm on Tuesday, October 28th at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd. Scituate. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday at 11am at the Harbor United Methodist Church, 55 First Parish Road, Scituate.
