Pauline Rachel (Belanger) Wilcox, 93 of Norwell, MA passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham, MA. She was born in Nashua, NH on November 27, 1932, and was the fifth of seven children of Wilfred and Eva (Manseau) Belanger.
Pauline graduated from Nashua High School in 1950. She worked in the payroll department at Nashua Corporation before marrying William Wilcox in 1957. They moved to Cheshire, MA soon after starting a family. In 1962 they moved to the South Shore where she lived in Marshfield, Duxbury, Plymouth, and Norwell. She was the best stay-at-home mom any kid could have. She returned to work in 1973 as everyone’s favorite lunchroom attendant at Chandler Elementary School in Duxbury. Soon after that she began a career in the accounts payable and payroll departments at Ocean Spray with the goal of paying tuition costs for her four children. She retired from Ocean Spray in 1997 and immediately began enjoying a snowbird life splitting time between the South Shore and West Palm Beach, FL. In retirement she also started playing golf. Despite never driving the ball more than 110 yards, she loved the game and put her focus on being a good putter.
Pauline was an avid sports fan too. We always thought she watched all of the games because the family had them on, but it was not uncommon to stop by her home over the past 20 years and find her watching the Celtics, Red Sox, or Patriots. But her favorite sport was PGA Tour golf which she watched every weekend.
Later in life, Pauline moved to a condominium at Jacob’s Pond Estates in Norwell where she made many great friends who looked out for her daily, especially over the past few years. She was always active in their card games, bingo night and of course her favorite, thirsty Thursday cocktail hour.
What makes us most happy in remembering Pauline is her strong relationship with God. She was an active member in the Catholic Church throughout her life. Pauline is best described as “pleasant.” She always had a smile, was kind, upbeat, never judgmental and loved making new friends. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Pauline is predeceased by her husband William Jr., son Douglas, daughter-in-law, DJ Wilcox, parents, Wilfred and Eva Belanger, siblings Wilfred Belanger, Constance Bowen, Albert Belanger, and Bertha Eaves. She is survived by her brother Omer Frank Belanger and his wife Joan of West Palm Beach, FL and her sister Estelle “Stella” Landry and her husband Raymond of Mullica Hill, NJ as well as her son Bill Wilcox III and his wife Sharon of Whitinsville, MA, daughter Jane (Wilcox) Drew and her husband Kevin of New London, NH and son Thomas Wilcox and his wife JoAnn of Scituate, MA. She was the grandmother of eleven, Jared Wilcox, Sam Wilcox, Katie Wilcox, Kellie Wilcox, Kyra Wilcox, Joseph Tackett, Patrick Drew, Thomas Drew, Tammy (Wilcox) Lupoli, Jack Wilcox, and Abigail Wilcox. And great-grandmother of twelve. Pauline leaves behind many nieces and nephews and always enjoyed spending time with extended family. She loved the role of grandmother and was affectionately called “Memere” by all.
Visitation will take place at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA 02066 on Saturday January 10th from 9:00 am – 10:30 am followed by a funeral service starting at 11:00 am at Saint Anthony of Padua, 10 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA 02025. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pauline’s name to Croi Health/Pat Roche Hospice Home (formerly known as the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association (NVNA) and Hospice) at 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061. Online donations may be made at Croihealth.org. The entire staff was absolutely awesome. Their outstanding care and compassion were greatly appreciated by all of us in the Wilcox family.
