Peter Alves

Peter Alves Sr.- Age 71, of Scituate, passed away January 9, 2017 at South Shore Hospital. Born in Cape Verde, he was a son of the late Sebastian Delgado and Carolina (Alves) Andrade. Peter leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Carolina (Monteiro) Alves; daughters Susan Alves, Diana Alves, Sheila Alves Taldon, Kelsey Alves and his late son Peter Alves Jr.; 12 Grandchildren; 6 Greatgrandchildren; siblings Julia Vaz, Julia Vieira, Edgar Delgado and the late Julio Alves as well as many nieces and nephews.

Peter worked for the Norwell public schools for 36 years. He loved taking care of his cat, Tigger, maintaining his beautiful lawn, going to the lighthouse, and attending church every Sunday at St. Mary's. He loved making people laugh, dancing and listening to robeca style Cape Verdean music and country music.

A visitation will take place on Friday January 13, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday January 14, 2017 from St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church memorial fund.
