

FINNERTY, Richard F., a 44 year resident of Scituate, passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2012, at the age of 79. Richard was a 33 year veteran of the former M.D.C. Police Dept, where he served as Sgt. and was also a retired U.S. Marshall in Boston. Loving husband of 50yrs to Nancy J. (Klocek).
Richard grew up in Neponset, graduated from Dorchester High School and served 4 yrs with the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He also graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in criminal justice. Richard was a former Commander of the Neponset V.F.W. Post.
Richard was an avid follower of B.C. College Football and was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed reading and the outdoors, walking several miles each day. Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren and siblings.
Devoted father of Kerry A. Hayes and her husband Gerard of Hanover, Kathleen M. May and her husband Patrick of Scituate, Richard J. Finnerty and his wife Debbie of Scituate and Nancy J. Hennessey and her husband Timothy of Charlton. Brother of Ann Wright of Milton, the late John and Robert Finnerty. Proud grandfather of Emily, Jack, Annie and Peter Hayes, Brendan, Colin and Daniel May, Nicole, Matthew and Grace Finnerty, Molly, Joseph, Ryan and Tommy Hennessey.
Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Monday, April 16 from 4PM to 8PM. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 10AM. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate.
