Alex Hoff, Sr.

Alex Hoff, Sr., of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in Scottsbluff, at the age of 91. His funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2009, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with LeRoy Sandford officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. A memorial has been established to Mitchell Fire Department and Rescue Unit. Alex was born June 27, 1917, in Greeley, Colorado to Henry and Katherine (Cook) Hoff. He attended and graduated from Sunflower School in 1934. Alex married Mary Rexius on November 7, 1937. They lived and farmed in the Sunflower area for the majority of his life, with Alex retiring in 1982. He served on the Nebraska Sugar Beet Growers Association for 33 years. Alex worked at various jobs for the remainder of his life, enriching the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Alex (Jane) Hoff, Jr. of Scottsbluff, Marvin (Diane) Hoff of Loveland, Colorado, Tom (Kay) Hoff of Lincoln and Sheri (Albert) Townsend of Buffalo, Wyoming. Alex also leaves behind nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Amelia Margheim. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, five sisters and one granddaughter. He will be missed by his family and a host of friends.
