

Alice Margaret Brackman Copsey, 89, of Minatare, died Tuesday May 13, 2008 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Carolyn Dickinson officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare. Alice was the youngest of her family’s seven children, born September 30, 1918 to Charles F. and Alice (Holthusen) Brackman on the Brackman family homestead northeast of Minatare. She graduated from Minatare High School in 1936 and attended Chadron State College for two years. She married Jack Edwin Copsey April 2, 1939 in Gering. Alice and Jack farmed south of Gering briefly before moving to California during WW II. They returned to the Brackman farm in 1944 taking over the farming operation which was homesteaded by Alice’s father in 1887. They lived on the farm until Jack’s death and ill health dictated Alice’s move to Heritage Estates in Gering. Alice was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Minatare, Presbyterian Women and Church Women United. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Diana Copsey and Edwin Adams of Denver, CO; sons Jack Edwin Copsey, Jr. and wife Betty of Gering and Monty James Copsey and fiancé Shari Johnston of Scottsbluff, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Jack, April 16, 2007, brothers Edward, George, and Carl; sisters Clara Louise Gilbert, Anna McKean, and Martha Nelson; and son-in-law Alexander Macklin Oliszewski.
