Ava L Van Winkle

Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Central Church of Christ in Gering. Memorials have been established to Summit Christian College and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

She was born to Ava I. and Roy Birdsall, May 6, 1933, at Ainsworth, Nebraska. She graduated from Minatare in 1951. Ava married Ted “Rip” Van Winkle April 13, 1952. They were blessed with daughters Jeannie, Stacey, and Kristin. She baked and decorated beautiful wedding and birthday cakes in order to be a stay at home mom. Upon her retirement from Herbergers she took up in-home daycare. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She delighted in baking and cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Gering.

Ava is survived by Jeannie (Rod) Bear, Stacey (Ernie) Schmidt, Kristin (Dave) Pauli, grandchildren- Tim, Nikki, Jesse, Stacea, Jace, Macey, Jameson, great grandchildren- Taylor, Wriley, Aedyn, Cherry, and Breylan, honorary daycare grandchildren, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Rip”, grandson Kaden, and sister Lois Cullers.
