

Bradley F. Ockinga, 55, of Scottsbluff passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his home with the love of his life, Kim, and loving family by his side. After a long courageous battle with cancer Brad went with the angels to heaven to meet the Lord. As per Brad’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, at the Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Giles Armstrong officiating. Memorials may be made to the Brad Ockinga Memorial Fund in care of his wife, Kim. Brad was born March 9, 1957 to Francis and Glenda (Wolfe) Ockinga. He attended school at Gering Public School and he loved wrestling. Brad joined the Marine Corps, March 29, 1979. He proudly served our country for 20 years and retired March 30, 1999 at the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. After returning from the Marine Corps, Brad worked for Inland Truck parts. He married his “girl”, Kim Wilhelm, November 7, 1979. Brad loved his Harleys. He always rode, no matter the weather, with a smile on his face and the wind in his hair. He always said “You gotta have P.M.A. (Positive Mental Attitude)"", he believed in waking up with a smile on his face and P.M.A. Brad enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He enjoyed baking deserts and he loved his chocolate. Brad is survived by his loving wife, Kim and dog, Ziggy. Preceding Brad in death is his father, Francis; his grandparents; and dogs, Jasmyne and Snickers. Brad was the strongest person we knew and had the biggest and kindest heart of anyone. Brad will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
