

Cenovio “Yogie” Gonzales, 79, of rural Bayard, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be held from 1-7 PM on Sunday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with a Rosary service being held at 6 PM. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow with a Memorial Service to be held at 3 PM on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bayard. Father David Rykwalder is officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Bayard Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Andrea. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com
Yogie was born May 5, 1938 at Lubbock, Texas to Catarino and Tanislada (Hernandez) Gonzales. The family were migrant workers who settled in Nebraska in 1954, living in the Bayard and Scottsbluff areas. Yogie and Andrea met in 1971 and were blessed to spend the next 46 years together as husband and wife. They made their home in the Bayard area since 1989 and renewed their wedding vows in 2005. Yogie enjoyed fishing.
Yogie is survived by his loving wife Andrea; children: Tina (Sappo) Moreno of North Dakota, Louis Gonzales Gutierrez of North Dakota, Ruby Cobos of Scottsbluff, Irene (Ramon) Bustillos of CO, Teresa Garcia of Scottsbluff, Mark Gonzales of Lincoln, Anthony Gonzales of Alliance, Daniel Gonzales of Scottsbluff, Maryann (Alonso) Robles of CO, Cenovio (Jessica) Gonzales of CO, Elizabeth Gonzales of Bayard, Nathan (Brenda) Gonzales of Sedwick, CO, Olivia (Miguel) Calihua of Minatare, and Veronica (Juan) Gallardo of Minatare; step-daughter Ami Torres of Scottsbluff; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary (Andy) Ramirez of Gering, Kathy Rivera of Scottsbluff, Lilly Voss of Scottsbluff, Frosty Martinez of CA, Josie Enriquez of Lincoln, Chris (Grace Trejo) Gonzales of Scottsbluff, Clara Gonzales of Lincoln, Inez Gonzales of Texas, Ed Gonzales of Lincoln, Andrea Gonzales of Idaho, and Ramona Gonzales of Las Vega, NV.
Yogie was preceded in death by his parents, son Louie, two granddaughters, one sister, two brothers, and first true love Juana Gutierrez.
