
Clayton Dean Gibson was born to Dean and Wilma Gibson during a blizzard in Scottsbluff, NE, on January 8, 1949. He passed away peacefully in Scottsbluff, NE, on December 22, 2025. His faithful dog, Wilbur, was by his side and the greatest source of comfort during his battle with lung cancer.

Clayton grew up in Scottsbluff, NE, with his two sisters, Nancy Marsh and Karen Evans. His favorite pastime growing up was playing baseball. His most memorable moment during high school is when he played Legion baseball. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1967. After graduation, Clayton enlisted in the Navy. He served some of his time in Yokosuka, Japan.
Clayton married Sandy Deines and had two children, Scott Gibson and Mandy Fertig. In later years, Clayton met and married Dianna Orth and adopted her three children: Ronald Gibson, Richard Gibson, and Racheal Davis.
Clayton had many different jobs throughout his life. He retired from the Kern High School District in Bakersfield, CA, after working there for twenty years. After retirement, he moved to Idaho Falls, ID, where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Clayton loved Nebraska Husker sports and Denver Broncos football.
Clayton was a wonderful man full of love and compassion. He wanted all his kids to know that he tried his hardest and he loved each of them so very much. Clayton was a hardworking, respectable, dependable, and all-around terrific man.
He is preceded in death by both his parents Dean and Wilma Gibson, his brother-in-law Steven Evans, and his ex-wife, Sandy.
He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Marsh and Karen Evans; children Scott (Jenny) Gibson, Mandy Fertig, Ronald, Richard (Chrystal) Gibson, and Racheal (Dylan) Davis; grandchildren Garret Gibson, Addison Gibson, Ayden Gibson, Dean Gibson, Lorelai and Clayton Davis, and his great-grandson Gael Gibson.
