

Edna J. Andrew, 96 of Morrill, NE., died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Heritage Estates. A private family interment will be held at a later date. At her request, cremation has already taken place. Edna was born on June 11, 1911, to William A. and Anna Sophia (Eitsel) Howell in Morrill, NE. She was their seventh child and fifth daughter. She grew up on the family homestead North West of Morrill in the area known as Sheep Creek. She attended Caulk Buttes School, graduating from the eight grades. During these eight years Edna would ride her horse, Topsy to school. She then would turn him loose to return home a few miles away. She continued her education by graduating from Morrill High School. On July 13, 1930, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert V. Andrew. During WWII, while Bob was in the service Edna worked for Shelby Fleenor in the local grocery store. During this time they also farmed on the Andrew homestead North of Morrill. In 1950, Edna began working for the United Telephone Company of the West as a telephone operator at the switchboard in Morrill. This career continued through the name change to Sprint and her retirement in 1976. She and Bob enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. They spent over 25 years instructing and dancing together. They also enjoyed traveling with their camper trailer. During these travels, they attended national square dance conventions in many different states. In later years of traveling Edna learned to fish with her husband. Edna was a member of the Eastern Star and Morrill Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Andrew of Morrill; her granddaughter, Julie (Jeff) Clement of Sterling Height, MI, her grandson, Andy Osborne of Humboldt, KS and her great grandson, Cedric Osborne. Her older sister, Evelyn Trout of Phoenix, AZ, also survives her. Preceding her in death: her husband, Bob in 1991. Of all the memories to remember her by there is one that best describes her joy for life. “She loved to dance.”
