

Eileen Wiberg Tjardes Davidson, 88, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff following a nine year courageous battle with cancer. Her memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2010, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastors Barry Palser and Troy Allen officiating. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Inurnment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Eileen was born July 31, 1921, at Edgar, Nebraska to Carl and Hattie (Ahrens) Wiberg. She was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Ong, Nebraska. She graduated from the Edgar High School in 1939. In 1940, she moved to Gering, where she worked at McDonalds Flower and Gift in Scottsbluff. She then moved to Long Beach, California and worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II. Following the war she returned to Gering and in 1946, she married Don Tjardes. She then worked at United Telephone Company and later at West Nebraska General Hospital, until retiring to take care of her mother. Eileen’s hobbies included oil painting, dancing, playing cards, golfing, and baking birthday cakes for her family. She loved her family and many friends. Eileen was a member of Zion Church in Gering and the Does and Eagles Auxiliaries. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Tjardes (Jim) Palser of Scottsbluff; daughter-in-law, Faith Tjardes of Fort Collins, Colorado; brothers, Stuart Wiberg of California and Gary (Pat) Wiberg of New Mexico; grandchildren, Annie (Todd) Boggs of Scottsbluff, Jami Palser (Nate) Kuehl of Rapid City, South Dakota, Reed (Crystal) Palser of Gering, and Amy Tjardes (Jake) Jacobs of Louisville, Colorado; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Gregory (infant) and Gary “Doc” Tjardes; and sister, Justine Wiberg McGhee.
