

Elinor Jean Bruner, 81, of Scottsbluff died Monday, July 21, 2008 at her home. A private family graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Elinor Jean Bruner was born July 31, 1926 at Thatcher, Idaho to Calvin Wright and Mabel Blanche (Johnson) Bennett. At the age of six years, she moved with her family to Logan, Utah where she received her education, graduating from Logan High School with the class of 1944. She attended Utah State Agricultural College for two years. She married Haver Lyall Bruner on June 23, 1946 at Logan, Utah, and moved to Nebraska. They lived at Broadwater or Scottsbluff for the 54 years of their marriage. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served in the choir, was an ordained Elder, and was a past president of United Presbyterian Women. She served as a Campfire leader and as Den Mother for Cub Scouts, was a past president of Church Women United, Scottsbluff Federated Women’s Club, Scotts Bluff County Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs District 6, and was a member of the Regional West Medical Center Auxiliary for many years. She is survived by her daughter Marsha (Donald) Groskopf, Gering, NE, son Donald Lyall (Terri) Bruner, Torrington, WY, five grandchildren: Aaron Groskopf, Scottsbluff, NE, Jeremy Groskopf, Atlanta, GA, Christopher (Camilla) Groskopf, Nipomo, CA, Bridget (Johnny) Farro, Scottsbluff, NE and Londa (Darrell) Baggs, Peetz, CO, 6 great grandchildren, sisters, Laverna Long, Chehalis, WA and Aline Romero, Wynnewood, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Calvin Loree Bennett and sister S. Joyce Bennett.
