

Esther Schmidt Keller, 96 of Gering, Nebraska, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Regional West Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held Monday, May 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the chapel. Esther Schmidt Keller was born May 8, 1912, at Loma, Colorado to Jacob and Katherine Schmidt. She moved as a small child to the Scottsbluff area where she spent her entire life. She married Henry Keller on March 19, 1930. She spent many years working for the Ben Franklin Store until they closed. She was a great seamstress, making many quilts and slippers over the years. Many people have received these wonderful gifts. She loved her God, her family and in later years her grandchildren, who knew who her as “Grandma the Great.” She is survived by her sons, Donald (Mickey) of Lake Tahoe, CA. and Tom (Judy) Keller of Gering; seven grandchildren; Pam Keller of Lake Tahoe, CA, Stan Keller of San Jose, CA, Don (Kathy) Keller, Jr. & Shelley (Jack) Tighe of Annapolis, MD, Kim (Anthony Belleci of Carmel, CA, Rhonda (Calvin) Sisson of Omaha & Brian (Trish) Keller of Crossat, AR, seventeen great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren and sister, Mollie Knaub. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, January 1, 1976 and sisters, Mary , Kathrine and Lydia.
