Harold “Don” Hoffman, 80,of Minatare passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, at 10:30 a.m. in Endicott, Nebraska at the Methodist Church and burial will follow at the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice in Harold’s name. Harold was born at Haddam, Kansas to John and Grace (Turner) Hoffman on January 30, 1933. He married Georgene Grammer on July 20, 1956 in Endicott, Nebraska. Harold served in the United States Army and upon his honorable discharge he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad and later, after a move to Minatare, Nebraska, Burlington-Northern Railroad on the Bridgegang. He retired in 1997. He enjoyed fishing watching, basketball and football, and chopping fire wood. He is survived by his wife, Georgene; daughter, Samantha (John) Marko; brothers, Ivan, Frank, and Vilous Hoffman; granddaughter, Shelby Marko; several nieces and nephews; and special grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Archie, Dale, George, Myron and Omar; and sister, Katherine Shelburne.
