

Harriet U. Abbott, 82, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ken Magdaleno officiating. Cremation will be held following the service at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Interment of her ashes will be in the Rushville Cemetery. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel between 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Harriet was born March 30, 1926 in White Clay, NE to John L. and Lillie (Murray) Stephens. She grew up in Rushville where she received her education. She married Robert Bayliss May 23, 1940 in Martin, SD. She lived in Gordon and Rushville before coming to Scottsbluff in 1972. She married John Abbott July 3, 1972 in Casper, WY. They delivered cars for several car dealers in the area and owned their own business, Abbott’s Driveaway. Harriet loved to garden raising flowers and vegetables. She loved to can vegetables, including beans beets and corn and make jelly. She is survived by her children: Robert (Kathy) Bayliss, Arlington, TX, and their children: Kenny, Mikey, Katie and Bobby; John (Donna) Bayliss, Shickley, NE, and their children: Theresa and Jason and stepchildren Sherry, Mickey and Jamie; Karen (Roger) Cadwallader, Washington, LA, and their children Debbie, and Clinton; Diana Bayliss, Scottsbluff and her children Sheila and Bill; and Eugene Bayliss of Scottsbluff and his children Theresa, Melanie and Heather; son-in-law: Howard (Marian) Farleigh, Hay Springs, NE , 21 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and one expected to arrive in August and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Carol Farleigh, two husbands, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 half brothers; one granddaughter Rhondie and one grandson Rocky.
