

Helen Marie Hagen, 84, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Golden Living Center-Scottsbluff. At her request she was cremated at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Kirk Community Cemetery with Pastor Don Mathis officiating. Memorials have been established to Camp Rock, Banner County Historical Society or to the Donor’s Choice. Helen was born January 21, 1926 in Scottsbluff, NE to Benjamin “Dick” and Inez Faye (Lewis) Cross. She attended school in Harrisburg and graduated from Banner County High School. After graduation, she worked for the rationing board office in Harrisburg during WW II. She married Billy W. Johnson December 10, 1944 at her family home in Banner County. They farmed and ranched in the Kirk Community until his death in 1985. She moved to Scottsbluff and married Alvin Hagen June 8, 1988. He preceded her in death March 9, 2003. Helen was active in the Kirk Community where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She collected owls, working outdoors, baking and crocheting. Helen is survived by her daughters: Kayleen (Timothy) Fisher, Colville, WA, and Sharon “Sherry” (Stanley) McKnight, Harrisburg, NE; brother: Arden B. Cross, Gering, NE; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Her parents, husbands Billy and Alvin, son Charles W. Johnson, sister Lorene “Dit” Hopkins preceded her in death.
